This tender is for a contract to cover the reception, storage and bulk transport of residual household and some commercial wastes collected by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, mainly from the former Down District Council area (but may include other areas within the new Council during the contract period). The tenderer should have a suitable licensed transfer station, within a short radius of Downpatrick, for accepting residual waste from various size refuse collection vehicles up to 32 t capacity to be stored and shipped out to a processing plant in Newry, County Down. Minimum monthly average of 1 250 t deliveries are anticipated.

None preferred, however for entering into and performing the contract, Tenderers will require to form a legal entity recognised under Northern Ireland law. There is no preferred form of economic operator but each individual in any group is to be jointly and severally liable for the contract. In the event of an associated group of companies being successful, the Council will require each company to be jointly and severally liable for the satisfactory performance of the contract. This assurance will be required in writing before any contract can be awarded to such a group.
