Translink's current ticketing equipment was first implemented in 2001 and is therefore nearing the end of its useful life with components becoming obsolete. Translink's existing suite of equipment includes approximately 1,800 on-bus (module-based) ticket machines, 150 office/shop-based ticket machines, 280 portable rail hand-held ticket machines, 30 on-platform smartcard validators along with a local and centralised reporting system spread across 55 bus and rail locations within Northern Ireland.
Translink have already appointed External Technical Advisors, MVA Consultancy, to deliver a Feasibility Study Report outlining the options, costs and benefits of a modern Translink ticketing system
In order to specifically and satisfactorily inform the options within the Feasibility Study report, MVA and Translink are formally engaging with many external stakeholders.
As part of this engagement process, we wish to hold initial discussions (without commitment) with ticketing equipment/system suppliers to establish the range of goods and services currently available in this marketplace.
We therefore have pleasure in inviting your company to deliver a short presentation and hold discussions with Translink on the equipment, systems and technology you currently have in place and which you expect to have on offer in 2016.

Precise information on deadline(s) for lodging appeals: Translink will incorporate a standstill period at the point information on the award of the contract is communicated to tenderers. That notification will provide full information on the award decision. The standstill period, which will be for a minimum of 10 calendar days, provides time for unsuccessful tenderers to challenge the award decision before the contract is entered into.
